Medieval castle of Utvrda Kolođvar
In january 2022, we carried out geophysical investigations at the medieval site of Utvrda Kolođvar in Čepin in cooperation with the Department of Archaeology and Museology of the Masaryk University Brno. Around 2 hectares surrounding the 13th-century castle were surveyed using magnetic prospection and targeted ground-penetrating radar (GPR).
Despite modern disturbances, the data revealed building remains and extensive debris layers to the east and south of the castle. Subsurface structures were detected at depths of up to 2 metres, particularly along the rampart and near the entrance.
