Urban site of Jardines del Valle
The Jardines del Valle and their surroundings are located in the Santa Catalina district of the historic centre of Seville. This area was shaped by the former Convento de Nuestra Señora del Valle, founded in the 15th century and later converted into a school before being demolished in the 20th century. The site also preserves a section of the Almohad city wall and has been the focus of several archaeological investigations since 1986, revealing remains from Roman, Late Antique, medieval, and convent phases.
A ground-penetrating radar (GPR) survey was carried out to locate buried archaeological and architectural remains linked to these earlier discoveries. Covering an area of 6,500 m², the investigation provides valuable new data for understanding the complex historical development of this part of the city.
